April 2017
6th: The sixth grades students just finished their zentagle shoes. They look awesome. We are moving on to our Name design assignment. During this unit we discuss the elements of art in detail. 

7th: Students just finished their Abstract positive and negative sculptures. Students will begin their pop art paper mache this week. We will study artist like Claus Oldenberg, then we will create larger than life sculptures out of paper mache.

8th: Students are working on their pinch pot vessels. In this unit we begin by creating a basic pinch pot. Next students are challenged to turn their pots into something unique.



March 2017
Multi-Media students are finishing the quarter strong with a Graphic design unit. In this unit students are learning how create a label for a 2 liter bottle. Students design their own brand and create a product prototype. 

7th grade Art- Students are working on their Art History choice project. For this unit students had to choice of media and artist or art period to research. After the research is done students will create various art projects that relate to their artist or art period.

8th Ceramics- Students in ceramics are finishing up their slab creations and moving onto their final. For the final students will be combining slab, coil and pinch techniques to create a final masterpiece.


February 2017
6th Multi-Media: Students are working on Reflective Self portraits using various google apps. We are working on using variety of fonts to create Emphasis and Texture in our artwork.

7th Art: Students are working on drawing from observation. After student complete their still life the will use watercolor to add color and contrast to their artwork.

8th Ceramics: Students are learning new glazing techniques. For the next project we will be using the slab technique to create slab vessels.


January 2017
6th Multi-Media: students are finishing up Illustrated text. During this unit students are learning how to create images out of text. We focus on the elements of Art: Color, Texture and Shape.  Our next project will be reflective portraits. 

7th Art: are in their drawing unit and are learning about various shading techniques; blending, hatching, cross hatching, and stippling.
8th Ceramics: students are working on slab construction and glazing techniques. We will cover slab, pinch and coil construction throughout the quarter.



December 2016
7th Graders have finalized their Papier-mâché’ projects and have put some of them on display in the library. 








November 2016

Multi-Media students are working on drawing in one point perspective. This drawing method shows how things appear to get smaller as they get further away, towards a single vanishing point on the horizon line. The objects on the paper look as if they are three-dimensional.

8th graders have begun working on their coil vessels.

The 7th grade sculpture class is working with cardboard and developing sculptures inspired by the work of Alexander Calder and Emily Murray.



October 2016

Multi-Media students are wrapping up the quarter by creating their own product label. Students have been working hard creating a design that is appealing to the customer.


7th grade art students have been working on watercolor still lives. They are learning to use various watercolor techniques to create a painting which looks 3-Dimensional.





8th grade students are finishing up their color theory paintings. They were required to use five different color schemes on the subject of their choice.
